Founder and Director Gill Pelling reflects on six years of growth, a family-led culture and the customer service ethos behind the business’s success.

LWP Site Solutions has reached a major milestone, surpassing £1 million in turnover just nine months into its current financial year.

For founder Gill Pelling, the achievement marks an important moment in a journey that began less than six years ago. Since launching the business in August 2020, the company has grown from a home-based operation focused on skips and wheelie bins into a trusted broker business offering an expanding range of site solutions to customers across the sector.

Reflecting on the milestone, Gill said the moment still feels “unbelievable”.

“It means that I’m successful, I’ve actually done it,” she said. “Each year the turnover has gone up, but to hit £1 million with three months still left in the financial year is an amazing feeling really.”

Gill credits two major factors for the company’s growth; taking on staff and broadening the range of services available to customers.

“If I was still doing just skips and wheelie bins on my own, it would have stayed the same,” she explained. “By bringing in staff, we’ve been able to expand the services we provide and respond to more and more of what customers need.”

That responsiveness has become a defining feature of the business. As a broker, LWP Site Solutions has built its reputation on solving problems quickly and delivering strong customer service, even when requests are unusual or highly specific.

“Our customer service is our number one skill,” said Gill. “Whatever the customer wants, the customer usually gets. And if we can’t do exactly what they want, we’ll always try to find an alternative solution.”

The company’s family-led culture has also played a significant role in its success. With family members working within the business, Gill says the team brings a level of care and commitment that helps set LWP Site Solutions apart.

“The girls are family, they care, and they put in everything they’ve got,” she said. “We work as a real proper team, and that makes a big difference.”

Asked what she is most proud of beyond the financial milestone, Gill pointed not just to the turnover figure but to the courage it took to start the business in the first place.

After being made redundant, she registered the company on the very same day, a decision she now describes as the turning point from “devastation to determination”.

“I’m most proud of the fact that I actually had the courage to do it,” she said. “I did what I’d always wanted to do and just went for it.”

Looking ahead, LWP Site Solutions is continuing to focus on sustainable growth, staying agile, meeting customer needs and building on the strong foundations already in place.

“Every day is different,” she said. “You can wake up in the morning and have no idea what requests are going to come in by the end of the day. You have to be reactive; that’s just part of the business.”

One of the biggest lessons Gill has learned as a business owner is the importance of delegation, something she says has been essential in enabling the company to grow sustainably.

Gill also wanted to recognise the people who have helped make the journey possible, thanking both customers and suppliers for their loyalty and support. She said their continued trust in LWP Site Solutions has been instrumental in helping the business reach this point.

With a dedicated team around her and momentum continuing to build, LWP Site Solutions’ £1 million milestone is not only a marker of success so far, but a strong signal of what could come next.
